ABOUT BLAINE
Aloha, I'm Blaine Kenji Bautista, and I'm running for the position on the County Council representing District 2. I am a proud native of Hilo and a graduate of Waiakea High School, class of 1998. My candidacy is rooted in reliability, approachability, and a steadfast commitment to family values.
A bit about my family background: My father, Joseph Bautista, hailed from Hilo and served honorably in the U.S. Army before dedicating his career to the County of Hawaii, notably within the Parks & Recreation Department. He was deeply embedded in community engagement, coaching Hilo High School football and various youth basketball and baseball teams. Regrettably, he passed away on November 10, 2017. My mother, Irene Bautista, also born and raised in Honomu, contributed 39 years to the community as an obstetrics nurse at Hilo Medical Center before retiring in 2017. Now, she enjoys her retirement by indulging in walks with our family dogs, traveling, and practicing Tai Chi.
In terms of siblings, I have one brother, Kevin, and three and a half sisters: Michelle, Rochelle, and Jonelle.
My educational journey began with an Associate in Science degree in Information Technology from Hawaii Community College, followed by a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from Hawaii Pacific University. Furthermore, I pursued a Master's in Business Administration with a focus on Information Systems from City University.
Currently, I hold a position as an Information Technology Specialist at the University of Hawaii at Hilo under the State of Hawaii. Throughout my career, I've gained valuable experience in the financial, healthcare, and now the education sector.
I am excited about the opportunity to serve my community and bring my diverse expertise to the Hawaii County Council.
