Blaine is committed to making our neighborhoods safer by focusing on revitalizing downtown to ensure it's perceived as a secure environment. Recent crime incidents have altered the nighttime ambiance, and it's crucial to address this concern. Blaine will propose establishing a dedicated street team comprising of a law enforcement officer, mental health expert, social worker, and housing specialist to address and tackle the homelessness issue. This team will specifically target mentally unstable homeless individuals, providing them with the necessary support and assistance.  He is also willing to work collaboratively with local organizations, to tackle this problem. Blaine aims to address the issue of homelessness in our community.

Blaine is passionate about procuring land for a versatile park that will serve as a hub for community activities and recreation. By creating green spaces and recreational facilities, Blaine aims to enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages.  Blaine feels additional facilities such as soccer fields, baseball diamonds, football fields, a new swimming pool, and a dedicated area for dog owners. This initiative not only enhances recreational opportunities but also promotes community engagement, attracting families from neighboring islands and the mainland. It could also serve as a means to boost the Big Island's economy.

Blaine is diligently developing a plan to address affordable housing. Although the path is not entirely clear, he aims to secure federal, state, and county funding to acquire land for building affordable homes. If executed properly, this initiative will lead local contractors to hire local labor, thereby creating jobs and boosting the economy. Acquiring land and rezoning certain areas will facilitate this effort. Additionally, expanding programs that assist first-time homebuyers with down payments and closing costs will promote the project. Promoting sustainability and innovative building technologies will help reduce costs and benefit the environment. Blaine is eager to engage with the community to gather input and ideas to improve this project.
